Chiropractic

Chiropractic is a healthcare profession that focuses on the treatment of musculoskeletal disorders as well as nervous system disorders.  Chiropractic care primarily focuses on disorders of the spine including but not limited to: back pain, neck pain, muscle tightness/tension, arm or leg joint pain, and headaches.  Doctors of Chiropractic (Chiropractors) focus on a drug-free approach to healthcare.  They free the interference of the nervous system to relieve pain and help the body to function properly.  Chiropractors perform physical exams, diagnose, and treat patients.  They do so with chiropractic adjustments involving their hands and manipulation of the spine, as well as recommend exercises to improve spinal stability, and nutrition to help overall body wellness. They offer lifestyle modifications to better help the overall health of the patient.

The chiropractic adjustment's purpose is to restore joint mobility to tissues that have hypo mobility (decreased motion).  Another phrase for this is subluxation, which is when there is misalignment of the vertebrae of the spine.  The most common way this joint disfunction occurs is from trauma; heavy lifting, falls, injuries to the body, repetitive stress on the body, improper posture.  It can also come from toxins in our bodies, and from too much stress on our bodies.  The most common ailment seen by chiropractors is back pain, and chiropractors have proven themselves to be back experts.  The proper training of chiropractors gives them valuable information on when to get further imaging of a patient, or send then to a medical doctor when necessary.  Chiropractors help to restore the normal function of the spine and nervous system so the whole body will function properly.  This natural approach to healing has proven to be something many people desire.
